Fort Myers, FL (July 18, 2014)- Rosario Alva-Mayaute unlocked her dream in Fort Myers today.  The mother of two received the keys to her new Habitat for Humanity home from Miromar Development Founder and CEO Margaret Antonier.  Miromar Development sponsored the construction of the 3-bedroom, two bath home on Ellis drive in Fort Myers.

“It is wonderful to be a part of a life changing opportunity.  Miromar Development is pleased to be involved with Habitat for Humanity and its tremendous work for families and the future of southwest Florida,” said Margaret Antonier.

The Alva-Mayaute home was one of three homes dedicated today, sponsored by local businesses and built by Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties. Ms. Alva-Mayaute will live in the home with her two daughters, Lorena age 19 and Pierina age 15.

“I am so grateful to Habitat for Humanity for this opportunity and to the sponsors.  This is a dream come true,” said Ms. Alva-Mayaute.

Habitat homes are built through the use of volunteer labor and donations of money and materials. The homes are then sold to low-income families with an interest-free mortgage and monthly payments set at less than 30% of the homeowner’s income, making homeownership an affordable reality. Habitat homeowners must qualify financially for the program; save $1,700 toward their closing costs; attend classes focusing on successful homeownership, budgeting and home maintenance; and complete 300 hours of “sweat equity” by volunteering at Habitat.
